Picketers try to prevent a car from entering the Allis-Chalmers factory, November 25, 1946. United Auto Workers Local 248 waged a 13-month strike against the company from April 1946 to May 1947. This picture was in company testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor, February 24, 1947, alleging the union was dominated by Communists.

The Summerfield congregation traces its origins to 1852, making it the oldest Methodist congregation in Milwaukee. The congregation has gathered at its current location on Juneau Avenue, pictured here, since 1904.

The Sydney Hih building stands in the background of this 2008 photograph, four years before it was razed. In contrast, the temporary office of the Moderne luxury condos and apartments sits in the foreground.
The Sydney Hih building, which held a number of commercial and entertainment enterprises over the course of its lifetime, was built in 1876 and torn down in 2012.
