Neighbors in the Town of Lake resisted the incorporation of St. Francis starting in the 1920s because the new city would take with it tax revenues from the Lakeside Power Plant.

This pond in Menomonee Park was once part of a quarry site. The park, partially located in both Lannon and Menomonee Falls, offers swimming and other recreational activities for visitors.
The Lao Buddhist Temple on National Avenue practices Theravada Buddhism and is operated by members of the Laotian community. The building in which it is located was constructed for a fraternal order in 1927 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Engraving of Dr. Laura Ross Wolcott, who became Wisconsin's first female doctor in 1857. Wolcott was also a founding member of the Wisconsin Woman Suffrage Association.

Photograph of a storefront for Layton & Co. Beef and Pork Packers on Water Street in 1888. Founded in 1863 by Frederick Layton, it was one of Milwaukee's most prominent meatpacking companies.

The National Association of Letter Carriers was founded in Milwaukee in 1889. In 1939, the NALC held a convention and parade in Milwaukee to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
