As part of its revitalization, the Third Ward was renamed the Historic Third Ward and this welcoming arch leading to the new Public Market was installed.

The North Presbyterian Church was built in 1851 at the corner of what is today E. State and N. Milwaukee Streets. In 1871, a Welsh congregation purchased the building, and it operated as the Welsh Presbyterian Church until 1954.

Once driven away from the Milwaukee area, whitetail deer have become a more common sight in recent decades. These deer were spotted in Whitnall Park in Greendale.
While turkeys like this one at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center may not be a completely foreign sight today, the initial wave of European settlement had eliminated them from the Milwaukee area by the mid-1850s.
